Man injured in M40 crash

Cars awaiting recovery on the M40

A CAR driver has been taken to hospital with head injuries following a multi-vehicle pile-up on the M40.

The man, in his 20s, was injured in the crash shortly after 8am on the northbound carriageway between the Denham Roundabout and the junction with the M25.

Four cars, two lorries and a van were involved in the smash which forced the closure of two lanes northbound.

Marc Lister from the South Central Ambulance Service said: "Everybody was dealt with at the scene by the ambulance crews apart from one man in his 20s who was taken to Wexham Park with head injuries.

"With all head injuries we treat them as serious until proven otherwise."

The man has just been x-rayed, and doctors are waiting for the results.

Mr Lister said that ambulance crews were on the scene within two minutes.

The crash caused long tailbacks, which have now cleared according to the Highways Agency.

"Two lorries" involved. Always seems to involve lorries. Seeing how some lorries are driven on the A40/M40 it's little wonder. Time to ban lorries from the M40 at peak times then at least they can crash into each other in the early hours.

8 am! OK thanks for the correction Tom, right on the money as ever. Wish I had a job in a faceless environment where my mistakes are corrected by others without any consequences. Easy money.

I like the way the BFP have a photo of the accident, with out it I would be unable to picture the scene...

BFP surely the biggest rubber necker in the county?
