Residents erect barricade to stop travellers
 |

RESIDENTS have erected a barricade to prevent travellers going in to their village.
The barricade consisting of a water tank and a tractor reduces the width of the road sufficiently to stop caravans going into Hedgerley.
Villagers are understood to have erected the barrier in Wapseys Lane two days ago.
What do you think about what the residents have done?

I am in favour of caravans being blocked out regardless of who owns them, traveller or otherwise.

The pikeys will steal the water tank and tractor. They will set up camp and drive the tractor around boastfully, claiming they had it all along.

Brilliant, fair play to the residents of Hedgerley.
A serious note though. I assume that the tractor is insured, because if it isn't, can it [bold]legally[/bold] be parked on a public highway? Unless the road is private of course?

I admire their balls but unless this is a private road I would suggest it is an offence to block the highway and cause an obstruction like this.
Have they considered whether fire engines can get through safely in an emergency?

I hope they realise that even as you read this, WDC are formulating a plan of how they can stick a Parking Ticket on a Water Tank.....

Just a few more illegally parked vehicles and you can stop all the undesirables coming into High Wycombe!
Then Bucks!
Then the UK!
Then the World!

There is a difference, travelers usually leave places in a mess, as they do not care and leave the council to deal with it.
The showmen in Holmer Green, have no such intention. They wish to stay there, and don't want to upset anyone, so they keep their land in a fairly good state.

The police reacted en masse to make the residents remove the barricade yet took two hours to arrive when they were being threatened. The travellers are now on the other side of the motorway bridge and residents of Dukes wood are finding their sheds and work vehicle looted, oh and the residents were warned by the police that before they leave the travellers are likely to vandalise the property of those who tried to stop them!
